About the Author
Kimberly Amato is an insightful, compassionate, and heart-centered educator whose life has been dedicated to helping others overcome adversity and reach their highest potential. She does this through her work as a Physical Therapist, Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula, Reiki Master, and CPR, First Aid and Child and Home Safety Instructor and advocate. It’s been said that Kimberly doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up! It’s clear from all that she does, her life’s purpose is to help others in their journey with gentle and loving guidance.
As a Reiki master, grief mentor, and bereavement doula, Kimberly provides insight and facilitation of healing of mind, body, and soul. She is passionate about nurturing others and supporting them on their journey with love, light, and a peaceful and reassuring presence. She has had the honor of supporting others through their greatest joys and their deepest sorrows, providing comfort, insight, and unwavering support.
Kimberly doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk; on a path no one ever wants to go down. The same one you are on now. She is also a bereaved parent, losing her 3-year old daughter Meggie to a furniture tip-over accident in December of 2004.
Kimberly has turned the tragic loss of her own daughter into a passionate, effective, and successful world-wide advocacy and awareness campaign dedicated to child safety. Her goal is simple, to keep kids safe and spare other parents her pain. Meghan’s Hope was born the evening Meghan died, in the form of a one page email warning friends and family of the dangers of furniture tip-over. It has grown from a Web site first published just two weeks after Meghan’s death, to a Facebook page known around the world as a go-to resource for tip-over prevention and child safety. Her blog post, Be with Me. Just for Today, went viral and opened the eyes of millions of people to the pain of losing a child, compelling them to take action to make their own homes safer. Meghan’s Hope is how Kimberly continues to mother Meggie. Knowing Meggie’s story has saved literally thousands of lives helps her heart to heal.
Kimberly is also a gifted and dynamic educator, workshop leader, blogger, and author on a mission to help and support others in their journey to be their best selves. Her work has been published in several trade magazines and she also blogs for a local newspaper on home and child safety. Kimberly has been interviewed by numerous local and national print and TV media outlets about Meghan’s Hope, furniture and TV tip-over prevention, and child and home safety.
A life-long energetically sensitive and intuitive helper, Kimberly has found that her calling also includes supporting others through their losses, as a bereavement doula and a grief mentor. Her compassionate, insightful, knowledgeable, and nurturing support are a gift to anyone struggling with the roller coaster of emotions associated with loss and grief. She has mentored and supported many others on their journey out of the darkness toward healing after a profound loss in their lives. It is an honor to help you with yours.
Kimberly lives in Massachusetts with her two sons, her husband, and their long haired fur babies; cats Lainey and Rusty. Meggie is still very much a part of their lives and her bedroom is now a sanctuary for creativity and quiet reflection. When Kim is not working as a physical therapist, teaching, writing, or taking her boys to a soccer practice or game, she enjoys running 5K’s with her family, playing games with her friends and family, sitting quietly with a cup of tea and watching the birds, enjoying the heart clouds Meggie sends her from Heaven, and ballroom dancing with the love of her life, her husband, Joe.
She’s only half-crazy though! Kimberly enjoys running half marathons, preferably in costume, because it’s more fun that way! She will be running the 2015 Disneyland Tinker Bell Half Marathon Pixie Dust Challenge in honor and in memory of Meggie, who loved Tink. It seemed a fitting way to honor Meggie's 10th Angelversary, Meggie style (running fast and being silly).
It’s rumored that Kimberly also has a not-so-secret love of chocolate and especially chocolate cake!
